Well preserved, runs good. Original: top, seats, engine, carb, Power House generator, water pump, glass. New radiator. Repainted all black ’47, stored in barn ’49, (34k on odometer), retrieved ’79, repainted original Arabian Sand (acrylic lacquer) ’80. 5 disk clutch replaced with ’30s single disk assembly. New pistons, rings, rods (resolved compression issue). Mother’s uncles car.

As a member of MARC’s Missouri Valley region I have served as President as well as holding various other offices. Married to my wife Pam for 33 years, we have two children, twins Katie and Alex.
I have been active in the Model A hobby most of my life and would like to share my love A’s with others. My focus will be on the recruitment of young members to our hobby so that we can survive and thrive.

I believe Board members of MARC should be an advocate of all aspects of the Model A hobby and be supportive of activities that attract NEW young members and retain existing ones. Focusing on Younger members will ensure that our hobby will survive and thrive.
Retired from a career in management and finance. I presently own a Closed Cab Pickup, as well as a 160-A that I am restoring for Fine Point as well as a 60-C and 160-B for future projects.

Greetings to my Model A ‘family’. That’s how I see it… we’re a family! In the nearly 50 years that I’ve been a MARC member, I’ve met a myriad of folks and become quite close friends with many. And with a total of 8 years on the Board of Directors, most recently as President from 2020 to 2022, I was able to help shape the growth of our fine organization, even through some very difficult times.
As a bit of personal history. . . I met Sandy in 1975, and also found and purchased my first Model A, a true basket case ’30 Tudor. I began its restoration, but you might say that life got in the way . . . in a very good way of course! We got married, I got my Master’s Degree, we started a family and built a house. And somehow, by 1983 that Tudor was on the road! We became deeply involved with the local MARC Region (Western Lake Erie), and as time moved on, I led the group to hosting MARC Meets in ’86 and ’89, and was a major part of the 2016, 2019, & 2023 Meets. I’ve held every officer position and currently write the club newsletter. As a retired engineer, I now enjoy gardening, vintage auto restoration, and driving my 400A.
My time on the MARC Board of Directors included 4 years from 1996 – 2000, during which time I revived the MARC Youth Program, appointing a Youth Coordinator to oversee activities and articles targeted for the young folks, who are the future of our hobby. It is still going strong today!
I also completed the MARC History Book, and later made major improvements to the National Meet guidelines. In 2018 I returned to the Board as VP, then President. These were troubled times, as COVID raised its ugly head and forced us to make the very difficult decision to cancel two Membership Meets and a National Meet. We got through that ordeal, but not without losing a portion of our membership.
I am especially proud that Sandy and I were chosen as the 2023 recipients of the Kenneth G. Brady MARC lifetime achievement award. What an honor! I’m currently: finishing my term as Trustee of the Model A Ford Foundation, Inc. (MAFFI), operator of the Model A Ford Museum, with a portion of my term spent as President. I feel that a strong bond between our organizations is critical to the long-term success of both groups. MARC is comprised of folks with many different ways of preserving the interest in the Model A Ford and its place in history. We have many who enjoy touring and driving their A’s, while some get a thrill from building a car to the highest degree of authentic perfection. (Yes, I’m also a ‘fine point’ judge/Team Captain!) Some enjoy fashion, literature and other aspects of the era.
I strongly believe that all these aspects of our hobby and more must be supported to ensure our continued existence. I look forward to working with a strong and dedicated Board to ensure that the best interests of all MARC Members are supported, with the goal of making MARC the best Model A Club that it can be.

My fascination with Model A Fords began at an early age when I noticed a derelict 1930 model A four door sitting in a field in 1961. At $75 it was too much to contemplate.
In 1972 I bought my first one, a non running 1929 Tudor for $500. I was thrilled when I sold it for a $25 profit a few weeks later!
Since that time, Model A’s have more or less followed me home, probably owning more than 20 Model A’s at one time or another.
I have restored two A’s, a 29 roadster pick up, a 31 wide bed pick up, a 1926 Model T coupe and am currently in the process of restoring a 30 standard coupe. I also have several other A drivers and projects awaiting restoration.
My wife Becky and I joined MARC in 1987 and have attended many National meets and co-chaired the 2018 membership meeting in Granville Ohio. I have also had a number of articles printed in the Model A News over the years.
I have been fortunate to have held director positions in 3 regional clubs, the Scioto Region in Columbus, Ohio, the Niagara Frontier Region in Buffalo, NY (also a member) and currently holding that position in the Model A Drivers of East Central Ohio region since 2018.
Our regions motto is “Just Drive Them” and that is what we do!

Model B Engine Rebuilt

This is a diamond block, which means it was made in the late 1930’s for use as an industrial engine. It has a counterbalanced crankshaft with inserted main bearing. The block is sleeved which makes for better cooling. The pistons are .030” oversize Egge Pistons, the same ones recommended for the Burtz Engine. The connecting rods are new, inserted rods from Antique Engine Rebuilding. The valves are stainless steel, with oversize intake valves for better breathing. The camshaft is reground by Jim Brierley, his touring grind. It provides good low-end torque and good high-end horsepower. The head is a 6 ½: 1 Burtz head as is the 30-pound flywheel. The pressure plate is a Ford V-8, which means less peddle pressure when shifting. The engine has been test run and is strong, quiet and smooth. The Model B engine is a vast improvement over the Model A engine. The oiling system on the A is a gravity fed system. While Model B has pressurized main bearings and cam bearings. The surface area of the bearings is 20% greater, while the cross section of the output shaft is 50% greater than the Model A. This means an almost indestructible engine. It durability is very close to that of the Burtz Engine. The Price does not include the water pump, fan, distributor, manifolds, carburetor or starter. These items can be supplied at additional cost. We can also supply an FSI automatic, solid-state distributor, which would be timed at our shop. No core required, sold outright. I can crate and ship for an extra charge.
